A heat storage tank is a hot water storage tank which supplies the hot water produced by the heat generation system to the users and stores the remaining heat to be discharged to the user when needed. It also mitigates the pressure change according to the expansion or shrinkage of district heating water in the thermal pipe network.

Heat Storage Tank Design

KDHEC designs the optimum heat storage tank by minimizing the temperature boundary layer formed by the hot water of 98℃ stored in the heat storage tank and cool water recovered from district heating and applying the floating type nozzle to store or discharge the heat even with water level change to mitigate the pressure change in the thermal pipeline.

Considering the fact the heat storage tank is sensitive to temperature, it applies the technology to minimize the internal movement and reduce the agitation caused by the heat exchange between the cold pipe and hot pipe and inflow and discharge of district heating water. KDHEC has the patents for the technology to contribute to the advancement of the technology related to heat storage tank.
